Guangzhou , October 13 - October 13 marks the 30-day countdown to the 16th Asian Games. A ceremony was held at Guangzhou Panyu Polytechnic to celebrate the special occasion and launch the 10th China Choral Festival and the 2nd Xinghai International Choral Festival.
Choruses participating in the two festivals presented Guangzhou 2010 themed songs and several music pieces originated in Panyu District during the ceremony.
Lin Yiping, a Moral Model of Guangzhou, read a proposal which calls on fellow citizens to learn proper etiquette for the Asian Games.
Forty-nine choruses with nearly 3,000 contestants from Mainland China , Hong Kong, Macau , Taiwan , Germany and Malaysia take part in the two festivals which will close on October 16.Panyu boasts the Guangzhou Asian Games Town and 27 competition and non-competition venues which account for 39 per cent of all Asiad venues. It is also the hometown of renowned Chinese musician Xian Xinghai who was referred to as "People's Musician" by Tian Yubin, President of China Chorus Association.
